A PROPOSAL FOR PEACE - ‘Value Creation in a Time of Crisis’

This Webinar was organised by members in Wales and the Marches area of SGI-UK and took place on 18th November 2021.
SGI-UK General Director Robert Harrap gave an introduction to Daisaku Ikeda’s 2021 Peace Proposal to the United Nations, called ‘Value Creation in a Time of Crisis’ before being joined by Beatrice Fihn, who at the time was Executive Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) - The Nobel Prize laureate in 2017.
In their conversation, Beatrice and Robert explored what individuals, faith groups and other organisations can do to move towards a world without nuclear weapons, and the webinar ended with questions from the audience being put to Beatrice and Robert.

A PROPOSAL FOR PEACE – ‘Transforming Human History’

This Webinar was organised by members in Wales and the Marches Area of SGI-UK and took place on 23th November 2022.
In his Peace Proposal for 2022 - ‘Transforming Human History: The Light of Peace and Dignity’, Daisaku Ikeda, President of the Soka Gakkai International focuses on three issues:
(1) a UN-centered effort to overcome the climate crisis, including coordination with civil society;
(2) a healthy and inclusive learning environment for all children, with attention on how to help those most impacted by pandemic school closures;
(3) Nuclear weapons abolition as the key to a sustainable future.
SGI UK General Director Robert Harrap was joined by Hayley Ramsay-Jones, Director of the SGI Office for United Nations Affairs in Geneva and they discussed this proposal. Hayley also offered insight into her work at OUNA. 2 members of SGI-UK youth division shared their activities of creating peace dialogues in their local communities and a Q&A session took place at the end of the webinar.

Global Network for Peace

Global Network for Peace” is a short film made by SGI-UK for Generation Hope, the event on 17 March 2018 for 6,000 young people in 3 venues on one day across the UK. It shows the background to SGI's involvement in the efforts to eradicate nuclear weapons and the attitudes our young members have towards keeping those efforts alive.
